National Rankings: Div. 1 Weekly Update

Some great games were played this past weekend! And several of them helped shake up the rankings.
We are confidant that progress is happening in every team whether the statistics properly reflect it for everyone.... well that is never the full story.
But for all of the boys of Autumn, and the families and leaders who've invested so much in them, we present to you the newest revision of the rankings.
To all the teams who moved up; DON'T STOP! And to all the teams who had a setback, EVERY champion has had many setbacks! The thing that made them better was that they didn't stop trying!

National Athlete Of The Week: Division 1

Cameron Branch

Senior, Cameron Branch, of the Oklahoma City Legion Homeschool football team, has had a banner week, leading his teammates to a huge upset victory over the Comets of Ardmore Dickson High School.
   Branch ran the ball 12 times for 231 yards and 2 TDs, for an average of 12.1 yards per carry. When his receiving and return yards are added, his totals exceed 300 yards on offense.
   On defense, he contributed to several key red zone stops, collecting 11 total tackles.
   The Legion victory led to a climb in the National Division One Rankings, landing the team to a best-ever 3rd place among homeschool rosters in America.

National Athlete Of The Week: Division 2

Joe Rumfelt

   Senior Joe Rumfelt, of the Ballard Christian Eagles is the first defensive star to be named an NHFCS Athlete of the Week, in 2014.
   Joe's 18 total tackles were an essential factor in making Friday night's big rivalry game with the Lighthouse Warriors such a 'nail-biter'.
   One of the more dramatic moments came when Joe recovered a fumble in the end zone for a defensive TD.
   Another exciting moment came when Joe intercepted a Warrior pass and returned it 50 yards.
   While his Eagles came one point short, they kept the game close, thanks in big part to Joe's incredible defensive performance.

   While Central Virginia maintains a strong postion at #1, Lighthouse & NOAH slipped farther back on disappointing weekend games.
   The big surge of Noblesville & OKC Legion became the big news, this week. They move all the way to the #2 & #3 spots.
Christ Prep & King's Academy rounded out the top 10.   Baton Rouge CHEF, Flint Warriors also moved into the first column on the strength of big successes.
The NHFCS Rankings has removed teams who have not kept their game results posted to Maxpreps in recent weeks.

   Evangel stayed secure in their top position this week. But the Nighthawks of Memphis are continuing their march in the charts, moving to #2, followed by Perennial powerhouse, Hope Christian.
But while several additional teams were added to the rankings this week due to their meeting the 3-game threshold requirement of
   Maxpreps; the biggest surprises are the Wichita Warriors and OKC Patriots being added to the top ten.
   Expect up to 1 more teams to be added to the Div. 2 charts in the next week or two.

A new # 1 team is named this week in Div. 3 homeschool football. Stephenville FAITH continues to assert themselves in this very competitive and high-energy version of tackle football.
Several new teams are being added to the national rankings as they report results of the threshold 3-game minimum required by Maxpreps.

National Athlete Of The Week: Div. 3

Michael Cheatham

   This previous week had no shortage of great performances. The NHFCS is pleased to announce Senior, Michael Cheatham, of The Victory & Praise Sharks, from Crosby, Texas, has been selected as the Athlete of the Week in Division 3 Homeschool Football.

    Michael amassed a staggering 357 yards rushing, along with 45 yards of receiving. He scored 8 TDs which led to his team's 87-42 win over Texas Christian, last weekend.

   Victory & Praise Academy is a homeschool team in the TAIAO Conference and their 2-0 start puts them in the driver's seat for the 2014 conference championship honors.

A big shift is happening yet again, this week; in Division 1 homeschool football.
A big MACC Rivalry event pitted Central Virginia against host Maryland Christian. CVCHA again walked away as the victor and further cemented their #1 spot in the Sunday rankings.
Lighthouse & NOAH both struggled, but held the #2 & #3 spots, with Noblesville very close behind.
As expected, OKC Legion impressed the computers with their very strong showing against a very tough opponent. They jumped up to #8.
GeorgiaForce also jumped into the top 10 with a strong domination of East Atlanta.

Beginning next week, teams that do not post recent wins will face exclusion from the rankings charts.
